Anglican Church Women

The Anglican Church Women (ACW) is an organization throughout the APCK, and we have a chapter here at St. Augustine’s in Chico. Our female church members organize to provide hospitality and fun events; raise funds for congregational projects and international ministry; and care for members of our flock.

Our officers for 2023 are:

President – Kathryn McKenzie

Vice-President – Loring Hammer

Secretary – Eileen Leadbetter

Treasurer – Giti Hansen

Yearly events by our ACW include:

Advent and St. Valentine’s Bake (No Bake) Sales, where members supply baked and other goods for sale, while others can buy or simply make a donation (no bake).

The Thaw, our annual Chili Cook Off at the Spring Equinox, encourage members to bring their best chili dishes, and we feast on variety of chili preparations.

St. Augustine of Canterbury Day Italian Food Festival commemorates our patron’s voyage from Rome to Canterbury to share the faith with the English. It is our fond hope that they also shared some tasty Italian food.

The Ice Cream Social in mid-Summer cools our bodies and sweetens our hearts as we celebrate Sundae Sunday.

We also enjoy many other fun and fabulous social times with our church members.

ACW is sponsoring two charities, one local and the other international. Our local charity is the Women’s Resource Clinic, a place that offers women and their soon-to-be-born babies the opportunity to choose life. The ACW also sponsors a girl, Munni, in Bangladesh through World Vision. Due to the generosity of our members, Munni is being fed, clothed, educated, and equipped for life. Her family and village also benefit from the ACW’s support.

Our ACW meets monthly and sets its course with prayer, inspired readings, and life-changing projects. Please come and join us!

The Ice Cream Social in mid-Summer cools our bodies and sweetens our hearts as we celebrate Sundae Sunday.

We recently held a silent auction, “Tea for Two,” that offered three sets of two English bone china cups and saucers along with some British tea and cookies. The three sets are all in new happy homes.

We also enjoy many other fun and fabulous social times with our church members.

ABOUT US

We are an Anglican Church with a timeless message and traditional
worship exclusively using the 1928 Book of Common Prayer and the King
James and the Coverdale Bibles. Our membership in the
Anglican Province of Christ the King, ensures us with full Apostolic orders, the comfort of the Holy Sacraments, the authority of Holy Scriptures, and a nationwide body of enthusiastic believers under Archbishop Blair Schultz and Bishop Donald Ashman, bishop ordinary of the Diocese of the Western States.

Bishop Peter F. Hansen, Rector of St. Augustine's and Coadjutor Bishop of this Diocese, leads worship, instruction, and Bible studies. Deacon Brian Faith assists, visits, and instructs the young.

Children are urged to attend Children's Ministry at 9:15 a.m., then to sit with their families during worship, receive a blessing at the rail or, if confirmed, partake of Communion. For the very young, baby-sitting is provided in our nursery.

If you have a question of any kind, don’t hesitate to ask. God does not want us to check our brains at the door to His House, but would rather have our minds converted along with our hearts.
